The researchers conducted a study to analyze the short-term effects of sauna bathing on arterial stiffness and hemodynamics. The candidates (mean age: 51.9 years) were exposed to a single sauna session of 30 minutes at 73℃ (humidity: 10-20%). The findings published in the European Heart Journal revealed reductions in pulse wave velocity, systolic and diastolic blood pressures, mean arterial pressure, left ventricular ejection time and diastolic time immediately after a 30-minute sauna session. Moreover, the decreases in systolic blood pressure and left ventricular ejection time were sustained during the 30-minute recovery phase.
